[Forest, VA] NexGen Utility Sales is excited to welcome Trent Williams as our newest Senior Sales Executive.
Originally from Piketon, Ohio, Trent’s connection to the power industry started long before his career officially began. Growing up with a father who spent his entire career in the transformer and substation world for a major utility, the industry quickly became more than just a profession, it became familiar territory. As Trent puts it, “The smell of transformer oil truly is associated with home.”
Trent earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University, where he began building hands-on industry experience early through multiple engineering internships. His career started with CE Power Solutions, where he gained exposure to switchgear sales and rebuild operations, substation maintenance and construction crews, and sales support efforts across the business. He later joined Fluor BWXT as an Electrical Engineering Intern at a Department of Energy facility, supporting projects tied to site decommissioning and electrical systems engineering.
Following graduation, Trent joined Advanced Power Technologies as an Application Engineer, eventually expanding his role into technical sales support, personnel management, business development, and sales leadership across the Eastern United States. His experience combines strong technical knowledge with a deep understanding of the evolving needs utilities face across the industry.
As Senior Sales Executive at NexGen Utility Sales, Trent is excited for the opportunity to represent a diverse line card while continuing to build meaningful relationships across the industry. He brings a solutions-focused mindset, technical expertise, and a people-first approach to every conversation.
Professionally, Trent is driven by connection and continuous learning. One philosophy has stayed with him throughout his career:
“Most people want to talk — they either want to share something they know or learn more about something you know.”
For Trent, breaking the ice with a simple “How y’all doing?” has always been the start of meaningful conversations, stronger relationships, and new opportunities to grow.
Outside of work, Trent is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time in the woods and on the water. He’s also a bluegrass musician, a fun fact that might surprise people until they hear him play.
Please join us in welcoming Trent to the NexGen team!
